Try a Tute Tuesday: Fabric Flowers

Per usual I am behind the trends in fashion, not really shocked there.

More and more I am noticing adorable little fabric flowers on almost every site I frequent. I decided that I would like to attempt to be somewhat fashionable – emphasis on “attempt”.

I went searching last weekend to find a tutorial that would show me how to make one. Upon my search I found hundreds of styles! It is unreal the amount of creativity out there. It was hard to pick just one!

I choose the “Frayed Flower” by Maize Hutton. You can get the full tutorial here.

A few notes:

{} I found this project very simple. Honestly the most time consuming part was knotting my thread. Everything else was SUPER easy.

{} A running stitch is a simple stitch where you run your thread over and under the fabric. The distance between your stitches will determine the look/size of your petals.

{} I hot glued the barrette to my flower – don’t do that. After strutting my stuff at work yesterday the freakin’ barrette came off. I would either find a stronger glue or follow the directions and sew it on.

I love the raw edges of the flowers. I also like how you can manipulate the material to get the exact look you want. I can’t wait to dig through my scrap fabrics and make some more!
