creating storage space

it has become clear that we will be living in our home until we are busting open at the seams. as much as i love this house. i'm not exactly thrilled. 
our home isn't tiny, but it is small. we have three levels but we only have two bedrooms. if/when we have more children it will definitely be time to make a decision about possibly moving or just plan on getting extremely creative with the sleeping arrangements.
in the meantime we are trying to create as much extra storage as possible. our closets are completely cramped and are desperate for some breathing room.
we have stored our christmas decorations, old baby stuff, golf clubs, etc... in our master closet. you name it, we had it in our closet. it was ridiculous and inconvenient.
this weekend we took control of our storage problem and cut out a little crawl space under our stairs.

i was surprised to see how much space we had underneath the stairs. 

i was not surprised by the fact that it is already full! 

this is an easy weekend do it yourself project if you got the skills and the time. we do not so we called a guy.  he it whipped it out for us in a few hours. i love a good diy project but sometimes you have to know your limits. i am sure that we could have done this but it wasn't worth the time involved and headache that i am sure i would get.  
i can't wait to start re-organizing closets now that i have more room to play with. yes, these are the things i live for. my life is off the charts exciting!
