Ten Blogging Goals for 2013

source

1. Define my niche and create a brand for my blog.

I have been putzing around all over the place the past two years. I don’t necessarily want to box myself into a corner where I only blog about certain topics but I do want to have a common thread tying each post together. I want my readers to know what kind of posts to expect when they read my blog.

2. Be organized and efficient.

Ok, I will admit it. I waste time. I am a time waster. I easily distracted with pinterest, facebook, and other blogs. I want to set up an organized routine and become a more efficient blogger. I want to spend less time “blogging” and more time doing things with my family.

3. Understand social media.

There is more to tweeting and posting to facebook. I want to understand the mechanics and all the little tricks. I also want to be better about utilizing them. If you don’t follow me on twitter, you should. That is where I post my best jokes and rants.

4. Use an editorial calendar.

This is a must for me. Utilizing an editorial calendar will also help me be more efficient. I am going to use Google Calendar as well as a planner. Between the two I should be set.

5. Build a community

I want to interact with you, my readers. I think this is the best part of blogging. I have been less than mediocre about responding to comments the past few months and I want to do better about that. You took time out of your day to leave me a note and I want to say thank you. Your comments mean more than you know.

6. Work with brands and Other Bloggers.

Not sure which ones, but I want to pick 6 of my favorite brands and 6 of my favorite bloggers, pitch them, and see what happens. My goal this year is to guest post at a few of the larger craft/diy blogs.

7. Get published.

This one is lofty but I would love to get published in a magazine. Getting published falls in the “my wildest dreams” category but I thought I would throw it out there to remind me to think BIG.

8. Get featured.

Craftgawker, Foodgawker, Design Sponge, Apartment Therapy, etc… I want to get featured on a large site. Important? Not really. Validating? Yes.

9. Feature my readers.

It is fun to be featured. It is fun to be included. I want to share that feeling with you. This year I want to do more features, more round-ups, more shout-outs, more of you!

10. Write from my heart.

The most important thing I want to do this year – write from heart. Some of my favorite posts last year were ones that weren’t projects. They were personal. I want to dig deeper within myself and share more.

  1. My goal this year is more consistency in my blog. Grow my readers not based on quantity but quality. Appologize less, compare myself to others less and utilize that darn schedule post button a lot more! LOL!

  2. This is a great list! As a newer blogger, I hope to keep posting content that I think is good, and I really want to stay committed because it really brings me happiness :D

  3. Awesome list! I love blogging….am considering dropping the time-consuming status updating of fb. I love words and online community.
    peace
